The Adrienne Hindmarsh Trio

adrienne josh

Bandleader Adrienne Hindmarsh is a vocalist with a unique voice, often  compared to the female singers from the 1950's big band swing era. She is also a dynamic Hammond organist with immense skill in the style of jazz organ.

Playing a small amount of organ as a child Adrienne taught herself to play the Hammond by copying the recordings of Jimmy Smith, Joey DeFrancesco, Groove Holmes and Jack McDuff.  Due to the lack of jazz organists in her native New Zealand Adrienne relocated to the USA in June 2008 to pursue her career in music.

Josh Hindmarsh uses unique driving chords and spirited improvisations influenced by George Benson and Wes Montgomery. His playing never fails to give the band's performance the upbeat swinging edge they have become known for.

Josh has shared the stage with jazz luminaries such as Bobby Floyd, Gene Walker, Art Gore, Tony Monaco and Jim Rupp.  His innate sense of swing, and dynamic drive have helped develop his reputation as one of jazz's rising stars within the jazz organ genre

WHAT THE GREATS ARE SAYING......

"Adrienne has a groove on the organ that I really enjoy, and she sings beautifully also,

I'm really a fan"      JOEY DEFRANCESCO

“Adrienne Hindmarsh is an outstanding talent....Ms. Hindmarsh keeps the legacy of soul jazz/hard bop organists alive while also offering something new. How many organists play in the tradition of Jimmy Smith while also singing like a jazz vocalist from the 1950s? ....    Scott Yanow

Jazz Around Town- LA Jazz Scene August 2009.

"It's great to hear a young organist that has soul and can truly swing. She is also gifted with a unique and great voice to match. You can't ask for anything better than that"           Bobby Floyd
